I continued on with ellipse variations and changing stroke weights and the variable amounts.I want to try and create a more 3-D looking structure in my further experiments.

In these experiments I experimented with changing the fill, stroke and transparency of the sketch, I also used variables which made it a lot easier to manipulate the pattern and create different variations.

For my first experiments I decided to start experimenting with ellipses, when first starting to use the pattern maker I did not quite understand how to use a variable to the best advantage so in my first attempts the patterns are quite long with no use of variables. I then tried out experimenting with some of the examples shown to us by Ben Jack in one of the tutorials and decided with continuing on with the ellipse style structures.

pacific island patterns

I took inspiration from pacific style patterns in the first hand-in and I would like to continue exploring this style of patterning with the over-lapping of the circles.

The natural patterns created within these objects I find to be very beautiful. I love how something so natural can be almost mathematical.
