FINAL PATTERN

This is my final pattern , I wanted to bring in aspects of all my previous trials. I decided to have small 3d shapes on the flat pattern as I did not like the fully 3D object i created earlier. I think the black background really makes the pattern pop.

Block colouring

Trying out with colour blocking on the pattern.

3D attempt.

I tried to fold my cut out pattern into a more interesting shape, out of paper however it is very flimsy and I will need to try some more solid materials. I like how the pattern is repeated in the shadows aswell but am not sure if having it in a 3D shape shows the pattern off to its best advantages.

More..

I thought I would try a simpler version of the pacific style pattern that I liked from the previous experimentations and try it in a square formation that I could try and manipulate in a 3D shape.

More Experimentation

I decided to to more experiments and try out a more simple algorithm with different line weights and patterns. I like how the pattern has a pacific feel to it and I also like the look of the paper once the pattern has been cut out. I want to try and further experiment with different materials and making the pattern 3D.

First sketches for pattern ideas

These were the first few sketches we did in class, I was just playing with shapes and doing experimentation to see what sort of direction I wanted to take my pattern in.  My preferred sketch is the top left one and i've decided to develop it further and simplify it slightly using a more basic algorithm.
